1. Sudama and Krishna — The Story That Defines This Day

Of all the stories of Akshaya Tritiya, none moves the heart more deeply than this one.

Sudama was Lord Krishna's closest childhood friend from their gurukul days — but while Krishna became the great king of Dwarka, Sudama had fallen into desperate poverty. Urged by his wife, he finally gathered the courage to visit Krishna — carrying nothing but a small handful of flattened rice as a humble gift, too embarrassed to even offer it.

Krishna received him with tears of love. He embraced Sudama as an equal, washed his dusty feet with his own hands, and honoured him before the entire court. And quietly — without a word — Krishna took that little handful of rice and ate it with pure joy.

When Sudama returned home, his broken hut had become a palace. His family's rags had become fine clothing. All poverty was gone — replaced with abundance he had never imagined.
