Below are the complete items needed for performing a traditional and authentic Sri Krishna Janmashtami Puja. The requirements are grouped into four main categories to make preparation easier.

1. Preparatory & Altar Setup

• Idol or Picture of Lord Krishna: Preferably in the child form such as Bal Gopal or Laddu Gopal.
• Jhula (Cradle/Swing): A small decorated cradle used to welcome and gently rock baby Krishna at midnight.
• Chowki or Asana: A clean platform or wooden stool covered with a fresh cloth—yellow or red is considered auspicious.
• Kalash: A copper or brass pot filled with water, topped with mango leaves and a coconut, symbolizing purity and prosperity.
• Panchapatra and Spoon: Used for Achaman, the purification ritual done before beginning the puja.
   

2. Abhishek (Ritual Bath) Items
